ELYRIA, Ohio — A Lorain County judge on Thursday sentenced a man to life in prison for the 2021 shooting death of a 20-year-old man in downtown Elyria. Raython Fields, 29, formerly of Lorain, was sentenced by Judge James Miraldi after pleading guilty to murder, aggravated robbery, having weapons while under disability, and tampering with evidence, according to a news release from Lorain County Prosecutor J.D. Tomlinson. Fields will be eligible for parole after serving 21 years. Fields also was designated a violent offender and will need to register his address with the sheriff every year for at least 10 years if he's released from prison.
