The Elyria Council of Veterans gathered at American Legion Post 12, 393 Ohio St. in Elyria, to honor fallen veterans on May 27. Joined by local Boy Scout troops, Girl Scout troops, and other youth groups, the council posted up at nearby Elyria cemeteries to plant American flags on veteran graves. The groups were able to cover St. Mary's Cemetery, 7284 Lake Ave., Brookdale Cemetery, 41600 Oberlin Elyria Road, and Ridgelawn Cemetery, 285 Columbus St. on Saturday morning. The flag planting was just the first of many events the council has planned for Memorial Day weekend.
