Apr. 1—The city of Elyria has announced the launch of the Spruce Up Elyria, Housing Beautification Program. Load Error This program will provide up to $5,000 in grant assistance to eligible property owners for exterior improvements to aid in the redevelopment and beautification of Elyria's housing stock, according to a news release. The Spruce Up Elyria program is designed to help residents make the repairs they've always wanted, but couldn't afford, the release said. "By providing financial assistance for exterior improvements, we are correcting code violations, improving curb appeal, and ultimately increasing property values," said Community Development Director Ashley Scott.
